RockIt 9U Blue competed in the Glen Allen Fall Travel League at RF&P Park but lost in the first round to a good Team Vinci club. 9U Blue finished the league with a solid 4-3 overall record.
RockIt 10U Blue brought home one of the two championships for our baseball program this weekend. In the USSSA Fall Ball Brawl, 10U Blue beat RISE Red in a convincing 14-2 win and then followed up with an equally impressive victory over Tri-County Tribe 13-5. In a high-scoring affair, the Blue team finished with a perfect 3-0 record for the day with a 14-10 win over RBA South Young Guns.
The RockIt 11U Blue team completed another Sunday sweep and remained undefeated in the fall season as they won both of their games in the Glen Allen Fall Travel League playoffs. After handling the RBA South Ropes in Game 1 with ease by a score of 15-0, RockIt Blue rolled into the championship game versus the Richmond Spiders. Albeit a little closer of a game, the Blue team used their quality pitching and reliable bats to win the championship 5-0. A remarkable final stat for the fall season was that 11U Blue allowed a combined total of 3 runs in their 8 games played in the league.
RockIt 11U Black lost a tough opening game in the Glen Allen Fall Travel League playoffs on Sunday afternoon. The team lost to RBA South Ropes 8-6 at RF&P Park. Sean Joyce held the Ropes to 4 runs through the first inning, but a crucial fourth inning put the Ropes up for good. In the Silver Bracket championship game, Black lost to Northside 15-10 in a back-and-forth affair. RockIt jumped on top 4 to 2 with a big first inning, but again a rough fourth inning allowed Northside to jump ahead and RockIt was not able to catch back up. Micah Hyman was 3 for 3 in the contest.
Both RockIt 12U Gold and RockIt 12U Black teams played in the USSSA Fall Ball Brawl Tournament on Sunday. The Black team won their two games in pool play over RBA 360 and Virginia Swamp Things. William Campbell racked up three RBIs on three hits in game 1. In the second game, Justin Journette racked up three RBIs on three hits as he singled in the first and third innings and homered in the fourth inning. Unfortunately in the championship game, they ran into a tough Hit Doctor Navy team and eventually lost a nail biter 3-2. RockIt 12U lost despite Tucker Trivette’s spectacular day from both the mound and the plate. Tucker went 2 for 2 as he singled in the third and sixth inning. On the mound he gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his two innings of work. RockIt 12U Gold went 0-2 on the weekend but played solid baseball all day. Jordan Brown led the offense in game 2 with a homerun.
RockIt 13U Black and RockIt 13U Gold both competed in the Glen Allen Fall League playoffs at Glen Allen High School on Sunday. Unfortunately the Gold team lost in the first round to RBA 360. However, RockIt 13U Black got their opportunity versus RBA 360 and jumped out to an early lead capturing a 10-2 victory. With eight runs in the first three innings, Black left no doubt about the eventual outcome. Landon Scott racked up two RBIs on two hits for his team. In the championship game, 13U Black came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 9-2 ballgame against Northside. Dylan R put together a nice outing as Northside managed just one hit off of him as he allowed no earned runs, walked four and struck out four during his four innings of work.
At Mechanicsville Little League Complex in the USSSA Fall Ball Brawl Tournament, RockIt 14U Gold finished the day with a 1-1 record. After losing a close contest in game 1 by a score of 5-2 against Richmond Ruckus - Bateman, the team bats came alive for the rest of the day. They rebounded in their second game with a win over Peninsula Tides 8-4 in four innings. The team never surrendered the lead after the second inning, in which they scored eight runs on an error, a groundout, and three singles.
RockIt 14U Blue travelled down to Rocky Mount, NC to play in the Top Gun Baseball “Winter World Series” Tournament finishing with an overall 4-1 record (3-0 pool play record) before losing in the gold bracket semifinals on Sunday. On Saturday morning, 14U Blue and Aldie Senators NC traded the lead four times, but RockIt ended up on top with a 7-5 win in six innings over the North Carolina team. Henry Dolan went 2 for 3, drove in one and scored three runs. RockIt Blue and West Chatham Heat NC traded the lead seven times in the noon game, but once again Blue ended up on top with an 8-7 win in six innings. 14U Blue took the lead in the sixth inning on a fielder's choice scoring Gavin Bralley which gave the team the lead for good. Andrew Bland had a hot bat as he went 2 for 3, drove in one and scored two runs. In the Saturday nightcap, RockIt 14U Blue beat Carolina Elite 9-3 to go perfect for the day. O'Ferrall, Schmitt, Trent Pulliam and Moore combined for six hits and five RBIs. Ready to vie for a championship the team woke up on Sunday morning and jumped on the Diamond Stars SC early on its way to a 7-4 win. Never looking back, the team scored 4 runs in the first on a two-run double by Andrew Bland, an RBI single by Carson Pardue, and an RBI single by Spencer Werneth. In the semis, RockIt Blue did run into a tough Virginia Warriors team who took the lead in the seventh inning of the highly competitive game. Blue was unable to muster a comeback, losing 6-5 in seven innings. Blue’s best inning came in the third when the team put up three runs. They scored on an RBI single by Henry Dolan, an RBI single by Carter Schmitt, and an RBI single by Griffin O'Ferrall.
All the RockIt teams had a great Fall Season and we will look to continue to develop all of our players in the off-season. See you in the Spring!
