Fall baseball continued for many of our teams this past weekend and we are excited to share our results.
Both of our RockIt 8U teams competed in the RVA Week 4 Fall League on Sunday at Tuckahoe Sports Complex. 8U Blue finished the day with a 1-1 record. Game one was an excellent display of hitting winning 16-8 over Ironbridge Extreme. Unfortunately, the team ran into a solid Hanover Sports squad that took advantage of a rough 4th inning that resulted in a final score of 12-5. The 8U Gold team struggled to score runs on Sunday and lost both games. One highlight of the day however was a spectacular and rarely seen 8-2-5 double play.
RockIt 9U Blue went 1-1 in the Glen Allen Fall Travel League. After losing to Evoshield Seminoles-Fletcher, they rebounded to beat RBA 360 by a score of 10-2. Quality pitching was turned in by Jake Bratton, Lawson McLeod, Caleb Whitehead, Ben Favreau and Colby Seay, all who combined on 14 strikeouts in 8 innings of work while giving up only 4 hits. Ben Favreau, Levi Jones and Brady Snead led the team with 2 runs scored apiece.
The Blue and Black 11U teams also competed in the Glen Allen Fall League at RF&P Park. The 11U Blue team pitched two shutouts against the RockIt Black team as well as the Richmond Spiders. Once again, they played solid in all aspects of the game and turned in a terrific team effort to remain undefeated in the league. The 11U Black team faced two worthy competitors in the 11U Blue team and Richmond Spiders finishing the day with a 0-2 record. Highlights included a 4 inning performance from Ryan Lloyd that resulted in only 2 runs and had a hit in the first game as well as a 2 for 3 day at the plate from Parker Maughn in the second game.
RockIt 12U Gold team played in the RVA Fall League ending the day with a 1-1 record. In their first game, they won a close one over the Virginia Swamp Things by a score of 14-13 but finished with a tough loss to IYG Spiders White team.
At Glen Allen High School, both the 13U Black and Gold teams competed. RockIt 13U Black won both their games convincingly with victories over Short Pump Bandits and our own RockIt Gold team. The 13U Gold team did lose to the Bandits in their second game as well.
RockIt 14U Blue won all three of their games to win their division championship this past weekend in the RVA Fall League. They took care of business with a 12-4 victory over Evoshield Seminoles-Sizemore and a 7-4 win against Hanover Sports in pool play. The day ended with a 13-1 championship victory over the Quad Athletics. Gavin Bralley was 5 for 9 at the plate with 3 RBI and started the championship game where he pitched 3 innings and allowed only 1 run.
