George Bland, Jr.
George played football and baseball at Randolph-Macon College. He was co-captain of the baseball team with current R-MC Head Coach, Ray Hedrick. During his R-MC career, George primarily pitched and played shortstop for the Yellow Jackets. As a senior, George led the team in home runs and slugging percentage. He was named 1st Team Academic All-ODAC and VaSID Honorable Mention All-State Shortstop. George’s R-MC football career was highlighted by a record setting junior year in which he earned 2nd Team All-ODAC honors and was named National Player of the Week after a six touchdown performance against Catholic University.
In high school, George was a tri-sport captain of St. Christopher’s football, basketball, and baseball teams. He earned All-Prep, All-State, and 2nd Team All-Metro honors in football while competing for the School’s 1st two Prep League Championship teams. George pitched and played shortstop for the baseball team. He was a three time All-Prep shortstop and was awarded All-State honors after his junior season.
George has been coaching youth, middle school, and high school football, basketball, and baseball since the late ‘90’s. He has had the privilege of working with many players who have gone on to successful high school and college careers.
