Shooting Drills


Shooting Drills

 

Instructions:

 

•   Pick 1 or 2 of the following drills and add to an existing workout.

•   Or do all 5 of the drills if you are concentrating only on ball handling for the day.

•   Must do form shooting routine prior to the start of first drill.

 

            Form Shooting - (30 seconds per spot)

            -Round 1 - Star Form 4 ft

                        -Middle

                        -Right Corner

                        -Left Wing

                        -Right Wing

                        -Left Corner

            -Round 2 - Star Form 8 ft

                        -Middle

                        -Right Corner

                        -Left Wing

                        -Right Wing

                        -Left Corner

 

                        Notes:

                        -Rebounder recommended

                        -Athletes will not jump here. Get up on toes, hold follow through

 

Drills to Choose From:

 

            1. Star Shooting 15-17 ft  - (1 set @ 1 minute per spot)

                        -Foul Line

                        -Right Corner

                        -Left Wing

                        -Right Wing

                        -Left Corner

 

                        Notes:

                        -Rebounder recommended

                        -Trigger step footwork

                                    -Righties left foot forward, right foot back. Step in with right foot on pass

                                    -Lefties right foot forward, left foot back. Step in with left foot on pass

           

            2. Windshield Wipers 15-17 ft - (1 set @ 1 minute per spot)

                        -Elbow to Elbow

                        -Right Corner to Right Elbow

                        -Left Corner to Left Elbow

                        -Right Wing to Foul Line

                        -Left Wing to Foul Line

                       

                        Notes:

                        -Rebounder recommended

                        -Catch each pass on inside foot

                        -Do not move on to next rep until rebounder has the ball

 

           

 

 

 

 

            3. Pull Up Series - (1 minute per set)

                        -Round 1 - Location Top of the Key

                        -Right handed basketball players

                                    -Open step (dribble drive right) 1 dribble pull up

                                    -Jab cross step (dribble drive left) 1 dribble pull up

                        -Left handed basketball players

                                    -Open step (dribble drive left) 1 dribble pull up

                                    -Jab cross step (dribble drive right) 1 dribble pull up

                        -Round 2 - Location Right Wing Foul Line Extended (1 minute per set)

                        -Right handed basketball players

                                    -Open step (dribble drive baseline) 2 dribble pull up in corner

                                    -Jab cross step (dribble drive middle) 2 dribble pull up at elbow

                        -Left handed basketball players

                                    -Jab cross step (dribble drive baseline) 2 dribble pull up in corner

                                    -Open Step (dribble drive middle) 2 dribble pull up at elbow

                        -Round 3 - Location Left Wing Foul Line Extended (1 minute per set)

                        -Right handed basketball players

                                    -Open step (dribble drive middle) 2 dribble pull up at elbow

                                    -Jab cross step (dribble drive baseline) 2 dribble pull up in corner

                        -Left handed basketball players

                                    -Jab cross step (dribble drive middle) 2 dribble pull up at elbow

                                    -Open Step (dribble drive baseline) 2 dribble pull up in corner

                       

                        Notes:

                        -Rebounder recommended

                        -Righties

                                    -Left foot pivot, open step/jab cross step with right foot

                        -Lefties

                                    -Right foot pivot, open step/jab cross step with left foot

 

            4. 3,3,2,2,1,1 15ft-17ft or 17ft-3pt - (1 set)

                        -Right Corner

                        -Right Wing

                        -Foul Line

                        -Left Wing

                        -Right Wing

           

                        Notes:

                        -Rules - Make 3 inside, 3 outside, 2 inside, 2 outside, 1 inside, 1 outside before moving to next spot

                        -Rebounder recommended

                        -Trigger step footwork

                                    -Righties left foot forward, right foot back. Step in with right foot on pass

                                    -Lefties right foot forward, left foot back. Step in with left foot on pass

                       

 

            5. 3 Minute Drill - (2 Sets)

                        -Foul Line

                        -Right Corner

                        -Left Wing

                        -Right Wing

                        -Left Corner

           

                        Notes:

                        -Rules - Make 2 before moving to next spot. Repeat rotation for 3 minutes.

                        -Rebounder recommended

                        -Trigger step footwork

                                    -Righties left foot forward, right foot back. Step in with right foot on pass

                                    -Lefties right foot forward, left foot back. Step in with left foot on pass
