John Ennis

John grew up in Fairfax, VA and attended Robinson Secondary School.  During his senior year, he was named team captain and received the team MVP and Athletic Boosters awards while earning First Team All-Defense and honorable mention All-District.  He also received the Scholar Athlete award (3.5+ GPA) all four years of high school. 

John graduated from George Mason University with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a master’s degree in Sport Coaching while studying under former Georgetown Men’s Head Coach Craig Esherick.  John has been a basketball coach for 11 years and a basketball trainer for 8 years, working with players at the youth, high school and collegiate levels.  He won back-to-back district championships with a combined record of 31-1 as the Assistant JV Coach and Head Freshmen Coach at Robinson Secondary School and won a conference championship in his first season as the Head JV Coach at Freedom High School.  During that time, he also administered off-season workouts for the Marymount University Men’s Basketball Team.  He has coached and mentored numerous athletes who have gone on to play basketball at the collegiate level and professionally overseas.

John is an extremely driven basketball coach who wants to help players succeed by emphasizing fundamental and athletic development, high academic standards and strong personal character.  He is adept at developing talent and athleticism in addition to creating offensive and defensive systems that accommodate player personnel.  He takes pride in becoming an active mentor to his players to help them develop essential life skills both on and off the basketball court.  John married his wife, Amanda Ennis, on Halloween in 2015.
