Austin played high school baseball for Bruce Secrest at The Steward School.  He started at 3rd base for a team that won the Virginia Commonwealth Conference (VCC) tournament, made a run to the VISAA state championship game, and earned 1st-Team All-VCC honors. He graduated from Randolph-Macon College in 2013, where he was a part of the baseball team that won two Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) championships. Austin played infield in his four years at R-MC, appearing in over 70 games over his career. Austin was on the ODAC All-Academic team in his sophomore and junior years. Also notable is that Austin was nominated for and was one of only six seniors to receive the award of Outstanding Senior sponsored by the Omicron Delta Kappa Student Leadership for his active involvement on and off-campus and a grade point average of over a 3.0. Austin is an extremely hard worker and attributes most of his success to that fact. Beginning in the spring of 2018, Austin will be the Head JV Coach at Freeman High School.
