Jonathan deMarte

Jonathan graduated from the University of Richmond in May 2015 and received his Master's Degree from Richmond in May of 2017. In addition to his academic success, he was a standout pitcher and hitter for the Spiders. de Marte was the 2012 Atlantic 10 Preseason Rookie of the Year, nominated as team captain for the 2016-2017 season, and was named to the 2017 All Atlantic 10 Academic Team as an infielder/RHP. While in high school, he was the NY State Gatorade Player of the Year in 2010 & 2011, while being named a Louisville Slugger 1st team All-American in 2011.

Jonathan just finished his second season as a professional pitcher in the Frontier League with the Normal Cornbelters. At the completion of the season he was traded to the York Revolution of the Atlantic League, the most prestigious of the Independent Leagues where he will return for the 2019 season. Jonathan has become a dual citizen in Israel as he has been selected to represent the Israeli baseball team in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

de Marte brings considerable expertise to the training and development of athletes. He endured numerous arm surgeries during his college career, transitioned to a position player, and taught himself to throw and pitch again with refined mechanics and a new understanding of having a routine and proper movement/throwing patterns. Jonathan played two years at third and first base for the Spiders and is excited to offer lessons to hitters, infielders, and outfielders along with his pitching prowess. As someone who taught himself to hit and play a position after a four-year hiatus, he brings the competencies necessary to help young ballplayers understand and master an optimal swing path, hitting progressions, and approaches that will help yield success on the field.
