RockIt 3v3 Challenge

November 3 | Full Rules & Event Details

The RockIt 3v3 Challenge is coming to Rockit on November 8, 2026!

This fast-paced, half-court basketball tournament is open to boys in 5th–8th grade. Players will compete with their own teams of 3–4 players in a tournament-style format, with every team guaranteed a minimum of two games.

Divisions

  • 5th–6th Grade

  • 7th Grade

  • 8th Grade

Players must compete in the appropriate grade division.

Important: How Registration Works

Players register individually, but you must have your team together before the event.

This is not an individual-entry event where Rockit will assign players to teams.

Before arriving at Rockit, each player should know the 3–4 players who make up his team. Each player must complete his own individual LeagueApps registration and waiver.

When you arrive on November 3, you'll check in and compete with your predetermined team.

Build your team first. Each player registers individually. Then show up ready to compete together.

Each team may have:

  • Minimum of 3 players

  • Maximum of 4 players

  • 3 players on the court at a time

Players may only compete on one team during the tournament.

Tournament Format

Every team is guaranteed a minimum of two games.

The exact bracket will depend on the number of teams registered in each division. Winning teams will advance through the tournament toward the championship game.

A tournament bracket will be displayed at Rockit and updated throughout the event so players and families can follow the action.

There will be no team coaches. Players will communicate, substitute and compete together on the court while Rockit referees manage the games.

Game Rules

Game Length: 12 minutes with a continuous running clock.

Format: 3-on-3, half court.

Scoring: Baskets inside the 3-point line are worth 2 points. Baskets behind the 3-point line are worth 3 points.

Possession: There is no make-it-take-it. Following a made basket, the opposing team takes possession and checks the ball at the top of the key.

Rebounds & Steals: Following a defensive rebound or steal, the ball must be cleared behind the 3-point line before the team can attempt to score.

Out of Bounds: Play resumes with a check at the top of the key.

Shooting Fouls: The fouled team receives 1 point and retains possession. There are no free throws.

Non-Shooting Fouls: The fouled team receives possession with a check at the top of the key.

Substitutions: Substitutions are allowed following a made basket or during another dead-ball situation.

Timeouts: No team timeouts.

Stalling: Teams are expected to actively attempt to score. Referees may issue a warning for intentional stalling and award possession to the opposing team for continued stalling. During the final minute, a referee may implement a 15-second shot clock when necessary.

Injuries: The clock will continue to run during minor injuries whenever possible. Referees may stop the clock for a significant injury or situation requiring staff attention.

Tied Games: Games tied at the end of regulation will go to sudden-death overtime. The first team to score wins.

All referee decisions during games are final.

Player Eligibility

Players must compete in the appropriate grade division and may only participate on one team.

Players and parents are expected to provide accurate grade information during registration. Rockit reserves the right to verify eligibility and remove a player or team for intentionally competing in an incorrect division.

Sportsmanship

The RockIt 3v3 Challenge is designed to be competitive, fast-paced and fun.

Players and spectators are expected to respect referees, opponents, Rockit staff, volunteers and other families.

Fighting, taunting, excessive arguing or other unsportsmanlike behavior may result in a player or team being removed from the tournament.

Parents and spectators should direct tournament-related questions to Rockit staff rather than referees or scorekeepers.
