RockIt King of the Court Challenge

November 1 | 1:00–3:00 PM

No teammates. No excuses. Just you, the defender and the basket.

The RockIt King of the Court Challenge is a fast-paced individual 1-on-1 basketball competition for players in 5th Grade through High School.

Players will battle through multiple rounds of 1-on-1 competition, with only the top performers advancing.

Make the Top 4. Earn your way into the Top 2. Then go head-to-head for the title of King of the Court.

Divisions

The competition will feature five divisions:

5th Grade
6th Grade
7th Grade
8th Grade
High School

Each division is limited to 15 players. Registration is individual through LeagueApps.

Round 1: Earn Your Spot

Every player receives five offensive possessions.

Each possession begins at the top of the key. The offensive player has a maximum of four dribbles to create a scoring opportunity.

Scoring:

Inside the 3-point line: 1 point
Behind the 3-point line: 2 points

Players will continuously rotate between offense and defense. Only points scored while on offense count toward a player's individual score.

Once every player has completed five offensive possessions, scores are totaled and the Top 4 players in each division advance.

Round 2: Top 4 Challenge

The scores reset to zero.

Each of the four remaining players receives another five offensive possessions under the same rules.

When Round 2 is complete, the two highest-scoring players advance to the Championship.

Championship: King of the Court

Now it's head-to-head.

The final two players compete in a Make-It, Take-It Championship.

First player to 7 points wins.

Baskets inside the 3-point line are worth 1 point and baskets behind the line are worth 2 points.

Score and you keep possession. Miss, turn the ball over or get stopped, and possession goes to your opponent.

The four-dribble limit remains in effect.

The first player to 7 points is crowned King of the Court.

Competition Rules

Each offensive possession begins at the top of the key.

Players are allowed a maximum of four dribbles per possession. A fifth dribble, travel, double dribble, offensive foul, ball out of bounds or turnover ends the possession.

A defensive foul results in the possession being replayed. Intentional or repeated fouling may result in 1 point being awarded to the offensive player at the referee's discretion.

All referee decisions are final.

Tiebreakers

If players are tied for the final advancement position after Round 1 or Round 2, the tied players will compete in a tiebreaker.

Each tied player will receive an equal number of additional offensive possessions. If the players remain tied, additional possessions will continue until the tie is broken.
